2005 Portfolio, Limited Edition
Vintage Note
Vintage 2005 started with a cool, wet winter, spring rains and a very wet May delaying bloom and set. The summer months were cool and pleasant with few heat spikes. September and October were cold and foggy during the night. Consequently, the vines had a slow ripening and harvest was late.
The wine is superbly structured and balanced exhibiting abundant cool climate small berry fruit, concentrated aromas of blueberry, rose petals, licorice and nutmeg. A silky entry with a soft mid-palate gives the wine an elegance and a sturdy persistence. Lengthy and complex, the finish ends up with explosive juicy wild berry and luscious minerality. The wine will cellar well for many decades.
